Jasmyn + Tims Bundaleer Rainforest Wedding
19 August 2016, Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens, Brookfield, Queensland
Jasmyn and Tim were married on a beautiful warm winters day under the jacaranda tree in the lush gardens of Buandaleer Rainforest. They shared this special day with family and friends and were lucky to celebrate with perfect weather and warmth in the reception marquee.
Q: Tell us about your proposal?
A: Tim had been working away so we planned a weekend on the Sunshine Coast to spend some much needed time together when he got back. Shortly after we arrived at our apartment we set ourselves up in the rooftop spa with a drink. Tim went to “get me a refill” and came back then got down on one knee outside of the spa. He must have been very nervous because he presented the ring to me but didn’t say a word. I had a bit of a giggle and said “Are you going to say anything?”. He asked and I accepted.
Q: How did you go about planning your wedding, did you use a coordinator or do everything yourself, or a little bit of both?
A: A little of both. Lisa from Secret Wedding Events helped me pull all of my ideas together and made sure things ran smoothly on the day. There were a few last minute additions as well that I wouldn’t have had time to organize on my own. I wouldn’t have done it any other way!
Q: How did you decide on wedding venue / wedding location (if destination wedding)?
A: I always wanted to get married outside in a garden type setting. Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens had everything we wanted and needed. It’s such a beautiful property.
Q: What’s the one thing you recommend couples invest in for their big day?
A: A coordinator. You don’t want to be stressing about everything going to plan on your big day and you don’t want to pass that job on to family/friends. Let the people you love including yourself enjoy the big day and let the professionals make sure it’s everything you wanted.
Q: How did you choose your wedding dress? Was it ‘love at first sight’?
A: I knew that what I thought I wanted might not be what I ended up with. So I went shopping with an open mind and tried a bit of everything on at several shops. I eventually fell absolutely in love with maybe the 15th dress I tried on.
Q: Most memorable moment?
A: We did a “First Look” prior to the wedding which was my favourite part of the day. We got to spend that first moment with each other privately.
Q: Any funny stories or mishaps?
A: I had planned to surprise my punk loving husband on my way down the aisle by walking down to the New Found Glory cover of Kiss Me. Unfortunately, I wrecked the surprise a couple days before the wedding by copying my husband into an email to the celebrant. I still went ahead with the plan. I wouldn’t change it for the world! It’s a little of me and a little of him.
Q: What made your day so special to you?
A: We’d chosen to have our wedding in Brisbane so that our grandparents would be able to make it. Having them there was very important to both of us.
Q: Do you have any unique wedding tips to help the day run smoothly?
A: Get a coordinator if you can. And at the end of the day whatever happens don’t let it ruin your day. I was an hour late to my wedding…if I didn’t get over that quickly my whole day would have been ruined.
Q: If a destination wedding, what are your main recommendations?
A: Only think about what you and your partner want. Don’t be persuaded by what other people want you to do if it’s not what you really want for your day.
Q: Do you have any tips for guest logistics!?
A: Do what you think is right and move on. Don’t over think it or worry about who might be offended. If in doubt look up tips on traditional layouts.
Q: Did you honeymoon, where and for how long!?
A: My husband couldn’t get a lot of time off so we went to Samoa for 5 days.
Q: Why did you pick honeymoon location?
A: We needed to pick somewhere that wasn’t too far from Australia. We’d seen a photo of the To-Sua Ocean Trench online and decided we wanted to see and swim in it for ourselves. It was picture perfect! We stayed in an over water bungalow at Coconuts Beach Club. We couldn’t say a negative thing about the resort or Samoa. We loved it!
